Brick Trowel.

The brick trowel is the main tool used to lay bricks with.
Uses include.

  2. Furrowing the mortar in which the bricks are to be laid/bedded onto/into.
  3. Buttering the perpend on to the brick to be laid.
  4. Can very crudely cut bricks to length. (Some brick trowels wont cut bricks, even the good expensive brands, these trowels are for spreading mortar only.)

Raker.

Home Made Raker

If you only have a small job to do its pointless paying for a raker that will be used only a few times.
Make your own, just follow the pics, just make sure you use a concrete nail as normal nails will just bend and be of no use.

Mark out your raker.
