Efflorescence

Efflorescence is little more than salt.
It will form furry crusts on brickwork or concrete masonry, it can be introduced via the water or the sand used.

It can be removed with clean water which may have to be repeated several times.
If it reappears wash with clean water again.

If not treated it can erode masonry, usually the softer bricks.
