Foundation Failure

No pages link to Foundation Failure

Foundation failure, there is very little that can be done to save the brickwork when the foundations fail.
The remedy is to take down the brickwork and re-build it.
The underlying problems of the foundations also need to be addressed.

Foundation failure can be due to many reasons.
  • Subsiding ground.
The ground has sunk or the foundations werent founded on stable ground, ie, they were founded on
soil rather than clay.

  • Drying ground.
The ground can dry out due to drought or trees can remove the ground moisture, the result is shrinking ground.

  • Insufficient Foundation
Too little concrete and rio bar is put in, very common with garden walls, over time the walls sag and crack.
